| ADRENAL SUPPORT The adrenal glands are responsible for a wide variety of functions, including water/electrolyte balance, blood sugar control, inflammation regulation, sex hormone production and stress management. In the "alarm stage" of stress, the sympathetic nervous system gets activated, and the adrenal glands pump out glucocorticoids, mineralcorticoids and corticosteroids. These remain elevated in the "resistance stage" of stress, and if care is not given to replenishment and recharging, the "exhaustion stage" of stress can completely deplete the adrenal glands. Strong adrenal glands are important to the menopausal woman, as they are a source of estrogen when the ovaries cease producing the female hormone.
