IMMUNE SUPPORT

The thyroid gland is the master regulator of metabolism and metabolic rate. It is common for someone with low thyroid function to be tired, depressed, constipated, or gain weight easily. The thyroid produces hormones (known as T3 and T4) which regulate metabolic reactions. Iodine is essential for thyroid hormone synthesis. In fact, goiters (enlarged thyroid) used to be common in areas where there was a low iodine content in the soil, which led to the addition of iodine to salt. Many vitamins and minerals work in concert to activate the enzymes necessary to maintain thyroid function.
